Process Specialist (Starlink)

This role is a key position within the Materials Management organization, with responsibility for operations at our Hawthorne, CA facility supporting the development and build for the Starlink dish. Our goal is to become a leader in materials management with a focus on excellent customer shipping, efficient lineside fulfillment, high inventory accuracy, and quality focused receiving. This role will be responsible for several improvement projects to continuously improve our operations. To be successful, you will need:

  • A passion for continuous improvement, the ability to identify shortcomings within our system and to be able to work with your leadership team and materials management specialists to bridge the gaps.
  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves and step into unknown situations with your leadership team to understand the current state of operations and most optimal path forward
  • An ability to work with cross-functional groups in soliciting ideas or solutions to problems, communicating the benefits of change to multiple levels of the organization, and keeping related projects on track


  • Streamline operational standards via process improvement techniques – targeting 20% year over year productivity
  • Identify, demonstrate, and implement technology step-changes within the organization – enabling significant processing time reductions while increasing capability
  • Partner and interface with internal customers as necessary to ensure that not only current state requirements are being met, but also to develop plans for future state improvements and implementations in conjunction with the leadership team
  • Maintain functional ownership for the team’s processes and procedures
  • Provide technical solutions and works with additional resources to establish and implement advanced technical solutions.
  • Team up with respective internal resources to address safety improvements
  • With the help of your leadership team:
    • Develop alternate and improved processes
    • Identify, help to justify, and implement new capital equipment purchases
    • Use Six Sigma and lean tools to improve processes
    • Initiate, review and approve internal change requests before they are submitted to the appropriate cross-functional team related to responsible processes
    • Represent the company with our customers and vendors (internal and external)
  • Routinely update their leadership on status of projects
  • Lead multiple concurrent projects
  • Support the manufacturing floor for any process related questions
  • Create and maintain process documentation and procedures


  • 2+ years of process improvement experience within a supply chain, production, or manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience in inventory, supply chain or manufacturing experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or engineering related discipline
  • Data analysis skills in Excel, VBA, and/or SQL
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to work with people
  • Six Sigma knowledge
  • Experience with construction/facilities project management
  • Project planning experience
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of root cause and corrective action, gauge repeatability and reproducibility and process capability
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills


  • Ability to work in a production environment with possible exposure to noise and dust without temperature control
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Able to work long hours and weekends when needed to meet critical deadlines
